ADULT ACTIVITIES

Sunday Classes · Wednesday Programs · Presbyterian Women · Men's Breakfast · Campus Ministry · Book Club

Emory Presbyterian Church offers many avenues for adults to engage mind, heart, and spirit.

Sunday Classes

[Bible study] Our adult Sunday School classes meet from 9:45 to 10:45 am during the school year for learning and fellowship. Newcomers are always welcome. Currently there are two classes.

The Questers Class is a lively discussion group. We build community by sharing joys and concerns, and then move into our Sunday School lesson, which varies at different times of the year.

The class is studying the DVD series "Serious Answers to Hard Questions. Ten Theologians Confront Ten Challenges to Faith." Jump in and join us for rousing discussion.

Do you hear God calling you? Come join us in the Betty Sloop room on the first floor of the Education Building, down the hall past the kitchen. For more information, contact Lilabet Choate at 404-377-2034 or lilabet_choate@yahoo.com

The Prayer Class is for any one seeking a place of quiet, looking for answers about the spiritual journey, and needing the company of others who wish to spend time in prayer. The Prayer Class meets on the second floor of the Education Building, first door on the left. Libba Pendergrast leads this class (404-634-3204).

Wednesday Night Programs

Wednesday Night programs follow the supper at 6:30 pm. We enjoy speakers from our community and around the world. We also fellowship and encourage one another. See the calendar page for the complete list of Wednesday activities for all ages.

Presbyterian Women

[woman painting] The Presbyterian Women have two circles.

The Day Circle meets the second Tuesday of the month at 10:30 am at the church. They have a study from 2 Timothy, then eat lunch ($4.00) and finish by 12:30. Contact Margaret Bloodworth, 404-634-7950.

The Evening Circle meets at the home of Libba Pendergrast (404-634-3204) on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. They welcome you to be together for about an hour and a half to consider the lesson, discovering Biblical truth and enjoying friendship.

The Lunch Bunch and Birthday Bunch each meet for lunch about once a month. The Lunch Bunch (men are welcome too) usually meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month. They go to nice restaurants, sometimes travelling out of Atlanta. The Birthday Bunch meets, usually at Petite Auberge, to celebrate those whose birthdays fall in the month. The date varies because it is chosen for the convenience of the honorees. Contact Ann Hughes, 404-325-1815, for details about these lunches.

Men's Breakfast

The men's breakfast group meets from 6:45-8:00 am on Tuesdays at the church for fellowship, prayer, coffee, and croissants. Contact Tom Peterman, 404-248-9157, for details.

Campus Ministry

[Emory Campus Ministry]

Emory Presbyterian houses the Presbyterian Campus Ministry at Emory University. The church is located within walking distance of the Emory campus. Among our congregation and staff are undergraduate and graduate students from several nearby colleges and universities.

The PCM in the Emory University area is an intentional faith community devoted to nurturing the spiritual growth of college students through mission, Bible study, prayer, music, worship, and fellowship. We gather weekly at 8 p.m. Tuesdays in Brooks Commons, Cannon chapel for worship, fellowship, and Bible study. In addition we provide rides to church on Sundays and have special events and social outings. Currently, we consist of both undergraduate and graduate students from the Emory University system . We are a ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA), but we welcome ALL people into our community. At present, all detailed information can be found in our interactive conference on LearnLink. Please log in to LearnLink and subscribe to our conference for more information. Our conference may be found on the web, here, or on LearnLink, here.

Book Club

Our next book club meeting is on Tuesday, August 26, at 7:00 pm. We're reading Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters.

Please join us, even if it's just this one time. Come enjoy the fellowship and discussion. No further commitment is required. For more information, contact Rose Watkins, 404-486-9377, or Karen Mason, 404-633-3726.
