WORSHIP

[Johnson Kinyua] At Emory Presbyterian Church we meet for worship on Sunday mornings and at a monthly Monday evening Taize service. At 1:00 on Sunday afternoons the Kwanza African Christian Fellowship meets in our facility. EPC and Kwanza members enjoy many joint activities as well.

Sunday Worship

Sunday morning worship services are at 11:00 am. Nursery care is provided, and during the school year there is a children's worship readiness program during the service.

Our weekly Scripture texts are usually drawn from the Revised Common Lectionary, a 3-year cycle of Bible passages. We usually celebrate Communion the first Sunday of each month.

Taize Worship

Taize (pronounced teh-ZAY) worship originated with the Taize community, an ecumenical monastic community in southeastern France.

[sanctuary at night] The Taize service is marked by its simplicity and peacefulness. It lasts for about an hour and consists mostly of singing, with a 15-minute period of silent meditation, prayers of intercession, and readings from the book of Psalms and Gospels. The simple songs, some in English and some in other languages, are repeated many times so they become prayers of the heart.

Our Taize service is held the first Monday of each month at 8:00 pm.
